how point hope came to be
Point Hope, Inc. (usually known simply as Point Hope), was founded by Delilah in May 2005. Long before then she had been personally offering humanitarian aid to vulnerable people, including military veterans, as well as being a foster parent to dozens and an adoptive parent to many, creating an ever-enlarging forever family. Of course, she was best known for finding the perfect song for each listener who called in and offering welcomed advice and encouragement over the airwaves. But it wasn't until 2004 when she took her first trip to Ghana, West Africa, and saw the needs there that she realized she wanted to start something everyone could join with to be a voice for forgotten children. Delilah realized that no matter where a child lived, at home in the U.S. or on the other side of the world, every child deserved to be safe, cherished and loved.

some of What We've Achieved
- Because of Point Hope, between 328,894-509,324 gallons of fresh, safe drinking water are distributed each month through 23 standpipes ("fetching stations") to a population of about 35,000 people.
- Approximately 125 teen girls in foster care, over 5 years, received a day of mentoring, acceptance, relaxation and pampering through the Teenista event.
- Over 250 people have received the gift of self-reliance and a future through Skills Training in areas of sewing, farming, soap making, beading and hair design.
- Every day 24 families have sustainable incomes and hope in the future represented by each water vendor contracted to sell water at a reasonable fee, including a manager who oversees the project.
- Resources are made available, in the form of totes and toiletries, to foster parents and case workers for children who need practical necessities of their own.
- Every year, for the past 6 years, over 450 caregivers received nutritional counseling on complementary feeding and 462 mothers received counseling on exclusive breastfeeding.
- Countless siblings in foster care have pictures recording memories; memories they are able to take with them as they are once again parted from each other.
- For over 10 years, vulnerable adults with chronic health issues and children with special needs and disabilities have received hot meals daily, healthcare assistance as needed and a resource to turn to when nothing and no one else was available to help.
